Have You Been Charged With Burglary In Kansas City?

A conviction for burglary can result in years behind bars and a felony record. If you have been arrested on burglary charges, it is up to you to ensure that your rights are not violated and you receive equal treatment under the law.

At The Law Office of Andrew T. Christie, LLC, I have years of experience practicing criminal law in Kansas City, Missouri. Contact my office at 816-533-3456 before you speak to the police. I will confront the charges against you and fight to preserve your civil rights.

All felony charges must be taken seriously, and burglary is no exception. In Missouri, burglary is the unlawful entry into a building with the intent to commit a crime inside — usually, but not necessarily, theft. Despite the commonly used phrases “breaking and entering” and “home invasion,” the law does not require forcible entry such as by breaking or picking a lock. Nor does the structure need to be a home. Taking no action beyond possessing burglar’s tools is a felony.

As your defense attorney, I will carefully examine the police report and the evidence for weaknesses in the prosecutor’s case and possible violations of your civil rights. These can be used as leverage to get the charges against you reduced or dismissed. I am a former prosecutor and longtime trial lawyer who regularly goes to court to help my clients take on the government.
