Defend Yourself Against Rape Charges

A rape and other sex offense convictions will follow you for the rest of your life. Convictions carry harsh penalties, including prison time and a possible lifelong sex offender registration requirement.

First-degree rape is punishable by anywhere from five years to life in prison.

It’s your future on the line. You should be involved in the defense process. At The Law Office of Andrew T. Christie, LLC, we take the time to explain the various paths available to you — including plea bargaining and trial — and the pros and cons of each approach as it applies to your case. Together, we will pick the path that is best for you.

Fight Statutory Rape Charges

Many young adults find themselves accused of statutory rape. In Missouri, it is illegal for an individual of 21 years or older to have sexual intercourse with a person under the age of 17 — even if the sex is consensual. The result? Many individuals are convicted of rape, imprisoned and brandished with the title “rapist” for life.

At The Law Office of Andrew T. Christie, LLC, we protect teens and young adults against the heavy hand of the criminal justice system. We will do everything in our power to defeat your statutory rape charge.

Sex Offender Registration

Missouri runs a strict sex offender program (MOSOP). As a convicted offender, you will be required to submit all of your personal information, including your address, Social Security number, yearly photos, fingerprints and DNA. All of this information will be available to the public via the state’s sex registry website.

Depending on the crime committed, you may be required to report every 90 days, every six months or yearly, as well as anytime there is a change in your identifying information. For those convicted of first-degree rape, these registration requirements will last a lifetime.
